SURF AVENUE BRIDGE

POSTED ON: 02.07.2006
The proposed pedestrian bridge spanning Surf Avenue at West Eighth Street on Coney Island in Brooklyn will be a signature structure reflecting new opportunities for the Coney Island entertainment district and the ambitious plans of the nearby Aquarium.
POSTED: 02.07.2006
The design is based on the idea that the Aquarium is the critical anchor for one end of the world-famous Coney Island entertainment district. WXY therefore designed a parabolic bridge that launches itself across Surf Avenue-connecting the new West 8/Aquarium BMT station to the Aquarium while also providing a formal and iconic marker for the Aquarium and one end of Coney Island.
